Our Transition for Teens program is designed to prepare teenagers who are blind or visually impaired for the challenges and opportunities of adulthood. We focus on building essential life skills, career readiness, and independence through hands-on experiences and comprehensive training.

Whether your teen is preparing for college, entering the workforce, or building independent living skills, our programs provide the foundation they need to succeed.

Summer Transition Program

Five-week intensive program with daily living training, hands-on work experiences, and recreational activities.

School-Year Transition

Eligibility

Who Qualifies for Teen Transition Programs?

Our Transition for Teens programs are available to teenagers who:

  • Are between the ages of 14-21 years
  • Have a diagnosed visual impairment
  • Are residents of Hillsborough, Polk, or Hardee counties
  • Are motivated to learn and grow
  • Can benefit from transition services
  • Have family support and involvement

Program Requirements:

  • Commitment to attend scheduled sessions
  • Willingness to participate in group activities
  • Basic independent living skills (for some programs)
  • Parent/guardian consent and involvement
